Detailed job description and main responsibilities

About the Role

As our new Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, you will:

  • Play a key role in delivering specialist restorative care for oncology patients as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide consultant‑level expertise in all aspects of Restorative Dentistry, supporting both routine and complex cases.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Maxillofacial, Head & Neck Oncology, and Prosthetics to offer integrated, patient‑centred care.
  • Contribute to the department’s culture of subspecialism, offering complementary skills that enhance and expand existing service provision.
  • Train, supervise, and inspire junior doctors and allied health professionals.
  • Deliver outpatient clinics at our East Grinstead site and participate fully in departmental activity.

Qualification and Eligibility

  • Eligible for full registration with the General Dental Council at the time of appointment and with a current licence to practice.
  • BDS Dental qualification registerable with the General Dental Council.
  • Successful completion of MFDS or equivalent at time of application.
  • Higher degree i.e., MD/PhD or equivalent to support research interest.
  • Evidence of implant‑based rehabilitation for head and neck oncology patients.
  • Suitable UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
