Department Overview
The ENT Department has its own ward for ENT, OMFS and Head and Neck Cancer. Up to 12 children’s beds are available to this specialty on the paediatric ward. An acute clinic works alongside the ENT ward. Emergency and major head and neck inpatient surgery is centralised at Broomfield Hospital, with a hub and spoke model. A wide range of ENT surgery – including tympanomastoid surgery, head and neck surgery, rhinoplasty and endoscopic sinus surgery – is well established. Almost all otological, rhinological and benign head and neck surgeries are carried out at Basildon. The Department’s outpatient facilities are self‑contained with en‑suite audiology and hearing aid facilities and a fully equipped fibre‑optic nasendoscopy suite. A modern audiology department with its own ERA equipment and facilities for temporal bone dissection is also available. The consultants’ office, medical secretarial and waiting list staff are adjacent to the outpatient facilities. The successful candidate will be based at Broomfield – the hub for the network.
