Technical Artist (Unity / VR) – Build Next-Gen VR Experiences

UK (Remote)

Rate 35 pounds an hour flexible

Responsibilities

  • Create high-impact VFX, shaders, textures, and meshes for immersive VR environments
  • Define and evolve environment and VFX pipelines, tools, and workflows
  • Develop and optimize custom Unity tools for artists and designers
  • Work hands-on with HLSL shaders, ensuring they are clean, scalable, and high-performing
  • Drive visual quality while maintaining performance targets for VR/mobile platforms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical, rendering, and performance bottlenecks
  • Collaborate closely with a small, high-caliber team of artists and engineers

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience with Unity (Unity3D)
  • 2+ years working as a Technical Artist
  • Deep understanding of rendering pipelines (Forward & Built-in)
  • Proven experience in mobile/VR optimization
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Animations, Timelines, Particle Systems
  • VFX Graph, Nested Prefabs, Material Property Blocks

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience with procedural workflows (Houdini, Substance, or similar DCC tools)
  • Ability to create and optimize sprite sheets, textures, and mesh data pipelines
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a passion for innovation in real-time graphics
