Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of a busy warehouse and distribution facility. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient operations across goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch, while maintaining high standards of health & safety, stock accuracy, and site security.
Responsibilities
- Warehouse Operations
- Manage daily warehouse activities including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
- Ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment to meet customer expectations
- Optimise warehouse layout and processes to improve efficiency and space utilisation
- Stock Control
- Maintain accurate stock levels through cycle counts and stocktakes
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Drive continuous improvement in stock management processes
- Health & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with H&S legislation and company policies
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and site inspections
- Promote a strong safety culture across the team
- Site Security
- Act as key holder, responsible for opening and closing the site
- Ensure security of premises, stock, and company assets
- Respond to alarm callouts where required
- Team Leadership
- Supervise, motivate, and develop warehouse staff
- Provide training, guidance, and performance management
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members
- Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Support and maintain ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001)
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK healthcare standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practice
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse or operations management
- Strong understanding of warehouse processes, logistics, and stock control
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- IT literate with experience using ERP or warehouse systems
- Must live within 30 minutes of Tunbridge Wells (key holder requirement)
Desirable
- Experience within a regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, healthcare, pharmaceuticals)
- Familiarity with ISO standards
- First Aid or Fire Marshal certification
- Degree or equivalent qualification
- Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently
