We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our mental health team at HMP Stocken. HMP Stocken is a category C training prison housing around 1056 patients, the majority of whom are aged between 21-40 years of age. You will be working closely with the multidisciplinary team consisting of mental health nurses, social workers, healthcare support workers, and admin staff, to deliver support to adult males with complex mental health and trauma needs. Hours Mon – Fri 16 hours per week or 2 days a week. We can offer flexibility on which day is worked to suit individual needs. We also have opportunities at other establishments in the region to uplift to full time hours if required.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite
- Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
- Work within the multidisciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi‑professional complex case reviews
Qualifications
- Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
- Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
- Approved under section 12(2) of the MHS 1983
- Understanding of the complexities of multidisciplinary and multi‑agency working
- Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and personality disorder (PD)
- Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
- Legal right to work in the UK; subject to additional vetting and security checks

Compensation and Hours
20 hours per week; annual salary up to £186,480 per annum (FTE) depending on experience.
