Torbay Pharma are currently seeking a commercially driven and dynamic Head of Business Development to shape and deliver TP’s commercial growth strategy. This senior, strategically critical role is responsible for building a sustainable, value-accretive pipeline of products and partnerships that support our long‑term ambitions. Working closely with the Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Team, you will lead in‑licensing, out‑licensing and CMO/CDMO opportunities, with a strong focus on expanding our sterile injectable portfolio and international footprint.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute TP’s business development strategy, aligned with corporate growth objectives and portfolio priorities.
- Identify, evaluate, structure and negotiate in‑licensing and out‑licensing agreements for pharmaceutical products and technologies across the UK and international markets.
- Develop and secure contract manufacturing and technology transfer partnerships, maximising utilisation of TP’s manufacturing capabilities.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of new sterile injectable products for in-house development, ensuring long‑term, sustainable portfolio growth.
- Structure and negotiate complex commercial contracts, ensuring alignment with regulatory, quality, financial and risk requirements.
- Conduct detailed market assessments, competitiveness analysis and commercial evaluation to support investment decisions and Executive approvals.
- Prepare high‑quality business cases and recommendations for Executive team review.
- Represent TP at key global industry forums (e.g. CPhI, DCAT, EuroPLX, Pharma Synergy), building strong strategic relationships with partners, licensors and customers.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Regulatory, Technical, Quality, Finance and Operations teams to support due diligence and execution of deals.
- Manage external market research providers and leverage high‑quality secondary data to inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications
- A strong track record in pharmaceutical business development, ideally with experience of in‑licensing, out‑licensing and CMO/CDMO transactions.
- Proven experience structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Deep understanding of pharmaceutical product development, regulatory frameworks and intellectual property considerations.
- Strong commercial acumen, including financial modelling, valuation and investment assessment.
- Expertise in market analysis, opportunity assessment and portfolio management.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and presentation skills, with credibility at Executive and Board level.
