We’re supporting a highly advanced engineering organisation working at the cutting edge of cyber and national security technology, currently growing their hardware and embedded capability in Manchester.
This opportunity sits within a specialist team developing high-performance, security-focused systems from the ground up; combining FPGA, embedded software, and hardware design to deliver robust, real-world solutions.
The Role
You’ll play a hands-on role across the full product lifecycle, from early-stage concept through to deployment and ongoing support. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you’ll contribute to the development of complex FPGA-based systems designed for high-throughput and reliability.
You can expect to:
- Design and develop FPGA solutions using VHDL
- Work on high-bandwidth data processing systems
- Interface with high-speed components such as DRAM and networking hardware
- Contribute to the design of secure, high-performance hardware platforms
- Collaborate closely with software and hardware engineers on integrated systems
What They’re Looking For
- Strong experience with FPGA development (VHDL essential)
- Experience working with high-speed data processing and interfaces
- Familiarity with FPGA toolchains (e.g. Intel/Altera, Xilinx or similar)
- Understanding of hardware design principles and system-level thinking
- Experience contributing across the full development lifecycle
Additional Info
- Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for UK security clearance
- Onsite role, with flexibility around working patterns where possible
Why Apply?
- Be part of a team building complex systems from first principles
- Strong technical environment with opportunities to deepen and broaden your expertise
- Long-term career development within a highly specialised domain
If you’re an FPGA Engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware, solving complex challenges, and building high-performance systems, this is well worth exploring.
