Deputy Director of Public Health (Consultant in Public Health)
Join Bracknell Forest Council as a Deputy Director of Public Health and be at the forefront of transforming our community's health and wellbeing.
Responsibilities include leading the development, integration, and delivery of public health duties across the organisation and wider health and wellbeing system. The role supports the Director of Public Health, provides expert advice to elected members and senior leaders, steers strategy development and delivery, and advocates for evidence‑based commissioning within the Council, NHS and wider system. Key duties focus on:
- Leading the Public Health Intelligence portfolio, ensuring high‑quality data and insight drive local decision‑making.
- Developing and implementing the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JHWS).
- Strategic leadership for Academic Public Health, strengthening partnerships with universities and research bodies, and embedding evidence‑informed practice.
- Working across the council and system partners on housing, planning, transport, employment, environment, climate change and community safety to promote a "health in all policies" approach.
Qualifications required:
- GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List, or inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists, or within 6 months of gaining entry to a register at the time of interview.
- Strong strategic, analytical and partnership skills, experience leading insight‑driven, system‑wide action on health and inequalities.

Working pattern and Salary
Permanent, flexible hours/full time, 37 hours per week. Salary £98,114 - £103,945 per year. Working pattern: Hybrid working at Time Square, Bracknell. DBS check required.
