The role is based in Finham (Coventry), Raynesway (Derby), or Shelton (Shropshire).
We’re looking for a Process Technical Lead to be responsible for setting and maintaining high standards in process and chemical engineering design, specifically for capital delivery projects. In this role, you’ll be liaising with sub‑services and water treatment teams to ensure standardisation, consistency, and quality across the function. The importance of safeguarding public health and the environment by embedding risk management and safety principles into all aspects of design and operations is paramount. This includes leading hazard studies (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPAS), ensuring regulatory compliance, fostering a proactive safety culture, and driving operational excellence through continual improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Underpins the need for greater standardisation, consistency and quality. Requires significant experience at Process/Functional Safety Technical lead level in the design function to set, maintain and raise the standards for the Process/Chemical and Functional Safety disciplines within the design function.
- Accountable for determining the techniques, templates, tools and processes required to ensure our designs are technically and regulatory assured.
- Explore opportunities to deploy tactical short‑term R&D and adopt new techniques and technologies for the immediate benefit of delivering the capital programme.
- Develop and mentor individual apprentices and engineers in their discipline throughout the design function to grow their skills, capabilities and qualifications.
- Accountable for Functional Safety determination within the Capital Design and Delivery function.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in providing technical leadership to a large programme of capital works.
- Experience of working in a design environment at a senior level.
- Strong record of innovative and challenging in the development of solutions.
- A full UK driving licence.
