Job Description:

A Senior Project Manager with a technical background required to join our eCommerce Team on a contract basis.

A Senior Project Manager, with a technical background, who coordinates teams and releases across client environments. You encourage strong relationships with your team and have the ability to talk, at a technical level, with developers, testers and technical architects. You have an understanding of practices in development standards, including code reviews, branching strategies, development principals and CI/CD.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Build relationships with VML technical specialists
  • Coordinate 3rd party product vendors, environments & client technical resources
  • Oversee delivery of new infrastructure environments
  • Working knowledge of Agile frameworks, in particular Scrum and Kanban
  • Ability to inspire and lead technical teams and work with teams to achieve individual and team objectives
  • Run effective sprint ceremonies, including stand‑ups, sprint planning and estimation sessions, showcases and sprint retrospectives (using WISDOM Methodology)
  • Support the efficient flow of work by helping the teams remove obstacles and make improvements
  • High-level understanding of the software development life cycle and release management
  • Involvement in release planning and execution
  • Build customer confidence by understanding their needs & delivering first class solutions
  • Set and manage client expectations.
  • Issues and Risks identification, mitigation and resolution
  • Identify technical debt and technical enhancements that would benefit the project in the long term
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating to various audiences including key stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Release and technical reporting regarding project/account technical deliverables, architecture and pipeline improvements

What we want from you:

  • Project Management experience, with e‑commerce experience ideally within a retail environment.
  • Technical understanding that enables log analysis and to identify potential issues
  • Some previous experience of e‑Commerce frameworks and hosting solutions
  • Understanding of cloud/on‑prem infrastructure
  • Defining, managing and delivering to customer expectations within strict deadlines
  • Full knowledge of the project lifecycle and experience of various project development methodologies (including Agile, Incremental and Waterfall)
  • Comfortable with technical environments and legacy systems integration
  • Some experience of code management tools such as Git, Bitbucket, SVN
  • Interested in the implementation of Jenkins, Git or other release pipeline tools
  • Ability to manage multiple 3rd parties
  • Time management & organisational skills
  • Negotiation skills and an ability to handle sensitive issues
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office packages, especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

If you have this, even better:

  • Experience of working with the Magento e‑Commerce platform
  • A developer background or programming qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Knowledge of Azure and AWS DevOps tooling
  • Minimum BA/BS degree with a major in information management, marketing, communications, business or other closely‑related areas is an advantage
