Job Description
We are seeking an experienced IoT Engineer to join our team at Wabtec UK where we support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.
Role Details
IoT Engineer/Developer/Full Stack – Permanent, Full‑Time. Salary: competitive. Location: Remote, with travel to site based at Derby, DE24 8HR.

By enabling secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity between transit hardware and cloud platforms, turning complex sensor and device data into actionable intelligence, strengthening Wabtec’s IoT and Smart Data product line.
Typical day
- Drive operational impact and service improvement by translating on‑site system insights into reliable edge and IoT solutions.
- Improve delivery quality and release confidence through strong software engineering, testing, disciplined planning, and close collaboration with development teams.
- Accelerate problem‑solving and innovation by proactively identifying blockers, engaging cross‑functional stakeholders, and designing scalable, best‑practice solutions.
- Support sustainable growth and efficiency by maintaining high‑quality documentation, clean source control, and a continuous‑learning mindset.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Proven work experience as an IoT Engineer.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, including branching/merging models.
- Experience with Agile methodology and working in Agile teams.
- Knowledge and practical experience of cloud services and best practices.
- Proficiency in GoLang.
