Job Description:

Orthopaedic Specialist Training Program equivalent status to UK year 6 trainee, or above. Fellowship offered for 6 months at University Hospital Coventry and Rugby St Cross Hospital.

Successful candidates will work under the supervision of the UHCW soft tissue knee team, consisting of Peter Thompson, Andy Metcalfe, Feisal Shah, Nicola Mackay and Nick Smith. The post is intended for a surgeon with a specialist interest in knee surgery and will cover both elective and traumatic knee conditions. It is primarily a clinical‑based fellowship, with opportunities for research in collaboration with the Academic Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Warwick.

Start dates are flexible within the recruitment periods of August 2027, February 2028 and February 2029. Please indicate your preferred start date in your application.

Responsibilities

  • Regular orthopaedic outpatient clinics at UH Coventry and Rugby St Cross Hospitals.
  • Operating sessions at both hospitals, with the majority of elective orthopaedics delivered at St Cross hospital.
  • Supervising the treatment of patients at UH Coventry and Rugby St Cross Hospital.
  • Conducting regular ward rounds as appropriate.
  • Participation in clinical audit and research activities within the unit.
  • Active involvement in training and supervision of Junior Medical Staff on ward rounds, in theatre and in clinics, including teaching medical and nursing students.
