Surgical Practitioner (Advanced) – St. Mark’s | London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust

Role Overview

Maternity cover – across sites London Northwick Park Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital. The post holder is expected to be a clinical expert in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients presented with complex gastrointestinal problems, nutritional deficiency and colorectal surgery. They are responsible and accountable for evidence‑based practice for management of conditions for which the post holder will prescribe medicine as an Independent Non‑Medical Prescriber.

Responsibilities

• Work flexibly in conjunction with different consultant firms, act as an SHO cover and team leader to support the multidisciplinary team, including junior doctors and nurses.




• Participate in clinical governance, the trust’s strategic agenda and multidisciplinary ward rounds; liaise and share information with different teams.




• Ensure all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures, utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching.




• Monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experienced colorectal/lower GI senior band 7 nurse or nurse practitioner, or band 8a practitioner.




• Experience with physical assessment and prescribing courses.




• Capable of independent practice and managing both emergency and elective admissions.




• Knowledgeable in supporting the smooth running of multidisciplinary care in a dynamic team environment.
