Overview

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Critical Services Shift Technician to join the team in London. As a CBRE Critical Services Technician, you will resolve and complete day-to‑day work orders to meet customer satisfaction targets and ensure completion within the required time frame. This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments. Please note: this is a continental shift pattern (a mix of days and nights). Role titles may vary from advert.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify and act as an appointed Authorized Person (AP) within 6 months from onboarding.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date log of work completed and outstanding items through the in‑house system.
  • Ensure that all contractors and staff comply with all company, client safety, and security requirements.
  • Participate in the critical services training programme.
  • Ensure effective communication with the client and management team is maintained.
  • Operate as a team with other technicians by sharing expertise and experience to help resolve operational problems.
  • Provide holiday, training & sickness cover for other members of the shift team.
  • Track and complete Critical Services Planned Preventative Maintenance and provide condition assessments of plant and equipment.
  • Log and action all out‑of‑line situations with incident reports.
  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
  • Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.

Role Requirements

Essential

  • Good technical & fault‑finding skills.
  • Educated to a minimum of City & Guilds in Electrical (or HNC).
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Highly conversant in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Procedure writing.

Desirable

  • Apprenticeship (or equivalent programme in Electrical / Mechanical Installation).
  • Report writing.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of the operation of Mechanical & Electrical Services.
  • Ability to interrogate and operate BMS systems.
  • Knowledge of business‑critical services e.g., UPS, Generators and Comms Rooms.

Desirable

  • 18th Edition IEE regs.
  • HV Trained.

Aptitude

  • Must be able to work under own initiative.
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • Takes ownership of issues and ensures completion.
  • Able to organise and manage own workload.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written to all seniority levels.
  • Understanding of customer needs and standards.
  • Presentable and smart at all times.

  • Incumbents must have a high level of energy, confident and stable in manner.

Circumstances

  • Required to work 0800‑1700, Mon – Fri.
  • Provide out of hours accessibility as part of escalation procedure.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours.
