Key Responsibilities
- Part of the Endoscopy Access Team, responsible for day‑to‑day coordination and compilation of waiting lists and patient placement onto these lists.
- Collaborate closely with the polyp nurse specialist and general anaesthetic pre‑assessment nurses.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Endoscopy Department.
- Work autonomously with initiative, following operational procedures and consulting supervisors as needed.
- Maintain a positive, proactive and professional approach to work at all times.
- Handle telephone enquiries empathetically and productively, taking appropriate action to ensure high patient satisfaction.
- Work as part of a team to deliver a first‑class service to patients and users of the Endoscopy service.
- Actively support and contribute to the requirements of the service and utilise designated operational practices within the specific endoscopy reporting system and the trust’s systems.
- Communicate effectively with a range of people, both in person and by telephone, promptly and in a professional and courteous manner, recognising barriers to communication.
- Respond to enquiries and take appropriate action on behalf of the service by telephone, contact or correspondence, within agreed time limits.
- Liaise with all relevant departments involved in providing care and core services to ensure smooth progression of the patient pathway.
- Provide excellent front‑of‑house service when covering Endoscopy receptions.
- Deal sensitively with complaints, problems or issues, highlighting and referring problems to supervisors where necessary.
- Provide expert advice on aspects of the patient’s care within defined boundaries and limits.
- Establish and maintain electronic and manual filing systems.
- Cover other members of the Endoscopy admin team when required, which may involve working on other sites.
- Actively support and contribute to the pre‑assessment service and the endoscopy unit.
