Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the manager of the residential home to deliver high‑standard support and care for service users.
  • Show empathy for young people, supporting them to achieve goals and ambitions.
  • Build and develop relationships with young people, encouraging full participation in home activities.
  • Plan and participate in the working rota, covering evenings, sleep‑ins and weekends.
  • Develop relationships with external agencies such as local authorities and health/social care professionals.
  • Conduct formal key work sessions and produce reports for each session.
  • Safeguard young people, raising concerns as required.
  • Support everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, medical appointments and meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in a residential environment for children or young adults (1 year preferred).
  • Understanding of relevant legislation protecting young people.
  • Experience working with young people with social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
  • Full driving licence and own transport are desirable.
  • DBS Certificate and DBS Update Service preferred.
  • Level 3 Diploma/NVQ or equivalent Residential Childcare Qualification (prior to 2014) – OR Level 4 Diploma/NVQ – OR Level 5 Diploma/NVQ (leader‑level).
  • Age 3 shifts per week and ability to cover sleep‑ins.
  • Enhanced DBS not on update service requires application for new enhanced DBS (funded by Blossom Care Group).

Pay & Shift Patterns

Shift patterns: Typically 1 day on, 2 days off, approximately 10 shifts per month (occasionally 11). 155 working hours per month, 6 sleep‑ins and 2 cover shifts per month. Sleep‑ins pay £65 per night; on‑call cover £35 per night.
