About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Inventory Manager to join a growing operations team within a manufacturing and technology‑led environment. This is a key role responsible for the end‑to‑end management of inventory across the business, ensuring accuracy, availability, and efficient flow of materials.

You will lead a small stores team and play a vital role in supporting production, improving processes, and maintaining high standards across goods receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch operations.

This is a varied position that combines strategic oversight with day‑to‑day operational involvement on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of inventory accuracy, integrity, and availability across all stock locations
  • Maintain optimal stock levels to support production and service requirements
  • Implement and enforce inventory policies and controls, including stock handling, labeling, and traceability
  • Oversee receipt, checking, and system booking of all inbound materials
  • Ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly
  • Manage storage systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Lead daily stores activities including material issuing, picking, packing, and dispatch
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely order fulfilment
  • Maintain control of high‑value and traceable items
  • Manage end‑to‑end spare parts order processing from picking lists
  • Ensure accuracy, on‑time delivery, and effective communication of shortages
  • Continuously improve picking efficiency and processes
  • Develop and manage a robust cycle counting programme
  • Lead periodic stocktakes and investigate variances
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance with internal controls

About You

Essential:

  • Proven experience in inventory or stores management within a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles and stock accuracy methods
  • Experience leading or supervising a small warehouse/stores team
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Excel for reporting and analysis

Desirable:

  • Experience with warehouse management systems, barcoding, or scanning solutions
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. 5S, lean practices)
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
