Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per year
We are looking for an experienced Big Data Developer to join a dynamic team working on cutting-edge data-driven solutions in the financial services sector. This role is ideal for professionals with strong Scala development experience and a passion for building scalable Big Data applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain applications using Scala, Python, Hadoop, and Java
- Work with Big Data technologies such as Apache Spark and Hive (nice to have)
- Build scalable and high-performance data processing solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and performance optimization
- Ensure best practices in coding, architecture, and system design
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years of software development experience
- Strong hands-on expertise in Scala
- Experience with Python and Java
- Experience working with Big Data frameworks (Hadoop ecosystem)
- Apache Spark experience is a strong advantage
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field
Additional Requirements
- Must be based in the UK and authorized to work in the UK.
- Willingness to travel within the UK based on project/client requirements
