Brief Description

Deliver prompt and effective response to all real-time Railway Operations and front-line response activities.

About The Role

In this crucial front-line role, you’ll be responsible for delivering prompt and effective responses to any accidents and incidents on a section of the railway. You will investigate, report, and help prevent similar events in the future. You may also take on the role of Rail Incident Officer, overseeing command structure and coordinating infrastructure and service restoration activities. Additional duties include performance monitoring, weather-related contingency planning, audit and engineering work, stores ordering, and vehicle monitoring.

Essential Criteria

  • Rail Incident Officer and Personal Track Safety training
  • Ability to learn, understand and implement rules and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing
  • Strong, logical decision-making skills
  • Full driving licence
  • Self-motivated and assertive
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise duties effectively

Additional Information

This role involves day, night and weekend working. It is safety-critical and subject to drug and alcohol testing and the relevant medical assessment. You may be required to carry out signalling duties and attend a 7‑week induction training course.

Benefits: Salary set at £57,146 per annum (SUP 8). Other benefits are available on request.
