The Independent Investment Management Initiative (IIMI) is a member-led industry think tank that represents entrepreneurial, owner-managed investment boutiques dedicated to serving their investors’ best interests. Founded in 2010, IIMI comprises some of the world’s leading independent, investment-led asset management firms, collectively managing more than $700 billion in client assets and employing around 3,000 professionals. In an industry dominated by global corporations, IIMI advocates for a client-centric approach and provides an expert voice on financial regulation and best practices. Its mission is to support independent and specialist asset managers committed to prioritizing their clients’ interests above external shareholders.
This is an exciting and rare opportunity for an individual with a deep interest in the investment industry to run a think tank, working directly with CEOs and other principals at a wide range of investment boutiques in building a better future for independent asset managers.
This is a permanent, part-time role, requiring the equivalent of 24 hours or 3 days per week, on average. At least one day per week in London. As a member of the IIMI Board and Executive Committee, the CEO will report directly to the Board. The CEO will work closely with the Chair and Deputy Chair in executing the plans of the organization. The CEO will be supported administratively by a part-time Executive Assistant (EA) and member coordinator, who will report directly to them.
Key Responsibilities
• Overseeing the execution of the IIMI’s objectives and activities
• Leading member engagement including oversight of external Teams groups
• Driving new member recruitment
• Working with the IIMI Chair, Deputy Chair and Board to set the organisation’s strategy on:
o Events and initiatives
o Policy and thought leadership
o Engagement with the Regulator and Government
o Commercial Opportunities
o Research and Publications
o Brand Building and PR
o Promoting best practice across our membership
o Membership Evolution
• Strengthening engagement with industry bodies
• Management of the company financials including budgeting
• Overseeing Marketing, PR and press-related enquiries
• General responsibilities as a Company Director
