Communications Manager
West London
up to £80,000
Fixed term contract (up to 12 months)
Our client is the team shaping one of London’s most talked about destination projects, and they are now on the hunt for a seasoned Communications Manager with a sharp eye for detail to help steer the build up and delivery of this landmark launch. Sitting directly alongside the Director of Marketing and Communications, this is a strategic seat at the table covering the full breadth of communications activity, with PR very much at its heart. This role is a fixed term contract, between 9 to 12 months.
You will bring a strong grounding in consumer destination communications at scale, a genuine feel for the London landscape, and a trusted network of contacts across local, national and international media. Working hand in hand with agency partners and the wider Marketing and Communications team, you will make sure every piece of activity connects, every channel is working hard, and no opportunity slips through the cracks.
The Role
This role leads all PR and communications activity for the destination, managing agency partners, media relationships, and major campaigns while serving as brand guardian across the organisation. Day-to-day, you will oversee media visits, handle requests, and coordinate with social, digital, and marketing teams to ensure consistent, on-brand output. You’ll also take the lead on crisis communications, represent the function to senior leadership and investors, and mentor junior team members as the business moves toward full operations.
Who We Are Looking For
- A solid track record in PR and communications, gained either agency side or in-house, within the consumer events, destination, entertainment or leisure space
- A meticulous eye and genuine pride in getting the details right.
- First class writing and verbal communication, with the ability to adapt tone and message to any audience.
- A sharp nose for news and an instinct for spotting the story others might miss.
- Well developed judgement around what strong communications look like, and an awareness of the pitfalls to steer clear of.
- Confident handling of senior stakeholders, with the credibility to offer counsel at leadership level.
- A safe pair of hands when it comes to managing budgets and steering agency relationships.
- A team first mindset and the ability to keep plates spinning across multiple priorities and personalities.
- Proven experience designing and delivering high profile media moments, from launch events through to press trips and media days.
- An in depth understanding of London’s leisure and hospitality world, backed by a trusted contact book across local, national and international press.
- Desirable
- Exposure to a mix of sectors, whether that is hospitality, food and drink, culture or entertainment, combined with the broader thinking needed to bring multiple venues together under one unified brand story.
- Hands on involvement in the launch of a new destination, venue or consumer facing brand.
- A background in crisis communications, ideally gained within a high profile or reputationally sensitive setting.
Why This Role?
Opportunities like this do not come along often. You will be helping to write the launch story of one of the most anticipated new destinations in the capital, at a moment where your decisions will genuinely shape how the place is perceived for years to come. Expect real ownership, meaningful exposure to senior leadership, and the creative license to lead work that will land loudly and memorably.
You will be joining a team that is ambitious, down to earth and genuinely supportive of one another, where fresh thinking is welcomed and different perspectives are actively valued. There is a clear commitment to building a workplace where people feel looked after, can bring their full selves to work, have room to breathe outside of it, and are set up to grow into whatever comes next. You will also play a key role in developing a more junior colleague, so your influence will be felt through the people you work with as well as the work itself.
If you are looking for a visible, high impact role where your ideas will be taken seriously, your voice will carry weight, and your career will move forward in a meaningful way, we would love to hear from you.
