About the Role

Your role:

The GMCA has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Officer (Retrofit) to join its award-winning Retrofit Team in the Environment Directorate.

The role will support a team delivering over £100m of housing retrofit measures to help meet the targets in the Greater Manchester 5-year Environment Plan and Retrofit Action Plan which are aiming to make Greater Manchester carbon neutral by 2038.

A key focus of the role will be to support the delivery of the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund. This includes assessment of grant applications from social housing providers and monitoring, advising, and guiding the successful applicants to ensure they deliver their projects on time and within budget, and supporting the Programme Manager.

The energy efficiency improvements and low carbon heating systems installed through these schemes will result in homes that are cheaper to heat, more comfortable to live in, and have less impact on the environment.

About you:

The GMCA is seeking an individual with experience of delivering national housing retrofit schemes. This would ideally include the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), but other retrofit programmes delivered in social housing would also be acceptable.

A commitment to partnership working is essential, as you will work closely with government departments, local authorities, registered providers of social housing, contractors, and a wide range of local partners. Most importantly, we are looking for an individual with a passion for tackling climate change and fuel poverty, as this retrofit-focussed role is an excellent opportunity to have a direct impact on these issues.

The role requires significant knowledge of low carbon housing retrofit, the delivery of complex grant programmes, and knowledge of the requirements of central government, local authorities, and social housing providers. As such, a project management qualification, such as PRINCE2, would be highly desirable.
