Head of Subject - A Level Geography
Location: Newcastle
Hours: 29.6 to 37 hours per week
Salary: £32,136 - £42,848 pro rata per annum
Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, suitably qualified individual to lead and teach on our A-level Geography courses within the Academic Studies Department. The role requires a subject qualification to degree level and a Level 5 teaching qualification such as the Diploma in Education and Training (or equivalent).
Responsibilities
- Organise, plan and monitor high quality delivery on the agreed courses, including coordination of other lecturers.
- Deliver excellent standards of teaching and learning across all areas within the curriculum area.
- Lead on the Course Self-Assessment Reporting process.
- Play an active role in the marketing of the College and the Department through activities such as open days and liaison with local employers and schools.
- Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking of examination papers/coursework, developing and preparing flexible learning materials.
- Monitor retention, achievement and pass rates and overall student progress.
Required Skills and Experience
- Holds a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Has an appropriate teaching qualification.
- Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
- Has experience in the delivery of A-level Geography.
