About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Apple & Linux) to play a key role in delivering and supporting a large-scale, enterprise digital environment within a complex organisation.
This is a senior technical position where you’ll lead on Apple and Linux infrastructure, contributing to high-impact projects that support teaching, research, and business‑critical services. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and maintain modern, secure, and scalable IT services.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the operational delivery and management of Apple & Linux platforms using modern endpoint management tools (e.g. Jamf or equivalent)
- Support and troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across endpoints, servers, networks, and applications
- Act as a technical lead on major infrastructure projects (OS upgrades, new environments, platform rollouts)
- Plan and implement infrastructure and configuration changes
- Collaborate with architecture, operations, and project teams to deliver strategic IT initiatives
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and security, ensuring high availability and resilience
- Drive incident and problem resolution, taking ownership of complex technical challenges
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements based on performance, scalability, and value
- Mentor colleagues and promote knowledge sharing across teams
- Contribute to internal and external technical communities and professional networks
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Knowledge
- Significant experience in IT service delivery (typically 5+ years)
- Strong expertise in Apple and Linux infrastructure
- Broad technical knowledge across:
- Networks
- Servers, storage, and cloud platforms
- Enterprise applications
- Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL)
- Proven track record of working in complex IT environments
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to lead technical workstreams and support others
- Excellent communication skills (technical and non‑technical audiences)
- Ability to prioritise and manage workloads under pressure
- Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to learning
- Relevant IT qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
- ITIL Foundation (or working towards)
