Data Migration Engineer
6 Month contract initially
Based: Hybrid, 3 day p/w onsite in Redhill
£Market rates p/d via Umbrella
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse Oracle schemas, procedures, packages, triggers, and dependencies.
- Perform source-to-target mapping and impact analysis.
- Define migration strategy (full load, delta, logical, physical).
- Document transformation logic and exceptions.
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Data Pump, pgloader, SQL, Python/Bash, or cloud DMS tools.
- Execute full and incremental loads.
- Validate data accuracy, referential integrity, and reconciliation results.
- Maintain playbooks, runbooks, rollback plans, and technical documentation.
- Use AI tools to analyse PL/SQL logic, auto-generate mappings, and accelerate documentation.
- Apply AI/ML for data profiling, anomaly detection, and automated quality checks.
- Use LLM-based assistants for SQL optimisation, code conversion, and metadata extraction.
- Build AI-powered dashboards and automated reporting.
- Ensure compliance with data security and governance standards.
- Provide migration progress dashboards, issue logs, and reconciliation reports.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong SQL / PL-SQL and Oracle fundamentals.
- Experience with ETL/ELT development and data migration tooling.
- Working knowledge of Python or Bash for automation.
- Familiarity with cloud migration tools (AWS/Azure/GCP DMS).
- Experience using AI/LLM tools for data analysis, documentation, or automation.
