About the role

We are delighted to announce that we are now recruiting posts within Mental Health Services across NHS Forth Valley. We warmly encourage applications from mental health nurse graduates.

Key responsibilities

Post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and should possess good interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate should be committed to the provision of high quality, patient focused care; have a flexible approach to service needs and a genuine interest in working with patients within a mental health setting. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act (Scotland) required. All posts require the post holder to be able to use de‑escalation techniques; with all staff in in‑patient areas able to apply Therapeutic Management of Aggression and Violence techniques (training given).

Requirements

All posts are for mental health nurse graduates, due to qualify in 2026 and will automatically register with the UK NMC. The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Applicants must be able to use de‑escalation techniques and have knowledge of the Mental Health Act (Scotland).

Development & support

We encourage and support staff to gain a wide range of experiences, and support this through staff personal development plans.

Working hours

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
