Job Description:

This is a rewarding role within the Older Adults team at East Berkshire Psychological Medicine, based at Wexham Park Hospital, Slough. The post holder will join a well‑established and supportive multidisciplinary team working with patients admitted to Wexham Park Hospital, including all medical wards, A&E, and community settings. The service caters primarily to older adults (65+) presenting with mental health or cognitive difficulties in the context of declining physical health and/or neurological or neurodegenerative conditions.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, office based with occasional clinical site visits.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist mental health care to older adults within Wexham Park Hospital.
  • Undertake initial comprehensive assessments of older adults referred by the hospital, focusing on their mental health needs while adopting a holistic approach.
  • Manage complex cases, participating in and leading multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Work collaboratively, incorporating views of patients, families, and carers into care plans.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Registered Mental Nurse (RMN), social work or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Broad experience of at least two years caring for older adults with mental health needs in a range of community or inpatient settings.
  • Minimum two years as a Band 6 grade in an older‑people mental‑health service.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
