Job Title: Quality Engineer

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £40,000-£42,000

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a well‑established operation based in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving quality standards within a high‑volume manufacturing environment.

The business supplies precision cast components into demanding sectors including engineering, automotive, rail and industrial markets, where compliance, traceability and process control are critical.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 standards
• Lead internal and external audits, including customer and third‑party audits
• Conduct root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone) and drive corrective & preventive actions
• Support foundry process control including melting, moulding, casting and finishing operations
• Oversee metallurgical and dimensional inspection processes
• Manage non‑conformance, concession and customer complaint processes
• Work closely with production, metallurgy and engineering teams to reduce scrap and improve yield
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the foundry
• Maintain quality documentation, control plans, PFMEA and inspection plans
• Liaise directly with customers on technical quality matters

Required Experience & Skills

• Proven experience as a Quality Engineer.
• Strong understanding of metallurgical processes and casting defects
• Experience with ISO 9001 (IATF 16949 advantageous)
• Competent in root cause analysis methodologies
• Experience with dimensional inspection techniques and CMM (advantageous)
• Strong analytical mindset with a hands‑on approach on the shop floor
• Ability to communicate effectively across production and management teams

Qualifications

• Internal Auditor qualification (advantageous)
