Research and Development Engineer – Glamorgan (Hybrid)

Salary up to £55,000 + Relocation + Benefits.

Role Overview

You will act as a subject matter expert responsible for researching and developing new technologies and determining how they can be integrated into the company's electro‑mechanical products. Responsibilities include competitive analysis, trend evaluation, and the development of breakthrough solutions across mechanical, electro‑mechanical, thermal, optics, and electronics. You will build and assemble prototypes in the lab, conduct testing, and support all work with raw data.

Essential Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a Research & Development Engineer, Research Engineer, or a comparable role, or a PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Optics or a related field
• Experience with mechanical / electro‑mechanical systems
• Hands‑on experience building and assembling prototypes or test equipment

Desirable Requirements

• Experience in optics / optical engineering
• Experience in electronics
