Factory FSQA Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced Factory FSQA Manager to take ownership of food safety, quality, and compliance within our manufacturing operation.
This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring robust quality management systems are in place, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining the highest standards across all technical processes.
The Role
- Oversee all aspects of on-site quality assurance, from raw material intake through to finished product dispatch.
- Lead and manage the quality team, allocating resources and guiding technical initiatives.
- Ensure the Quality Management System is fully implemented and maintained in line with BRC standards.
- Maintain strict document control across all policies, procedures, and factory documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement across product specifications, master data, and operational procedures.
- Lead HACCP verification and validation, ensuring effective CCP monitoring and team competency.
- Promote a right-first-time culture through auditing and performance monitoring.
- Conduct risk assessments and approve operational and product-related concessions.
- Manage environmental monitoring programmes and hygiene validation schedules.
- Plan and oversee internal audits, ensuring timely close-out of non-conformances.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to uphold food safety and quality standards.
- Support internal and external audits, traceability exercises, and product recalls where required.
- Analyse site performance data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure effective handling of customer complaints and non-conformance investigations.
- Manage relationships with external service providers (e.g. pest control, calibration, waste).
- Oversee equipment calibration and ensure records are accurate and up to date.
- Control the quality budget, including purchase order approvals and tracking.
- Partner with HR to ensure training and development needs are met across the team.
- Support new equipment commissioning, hygiene inspections, and production trials.
- Lead allergen management and promote a strong food safety culture across site.
- Manage team administration including holidays and attendance systems.
- Act as a key point of contact for food safety concerns, escalating where necessary.
About You
- At least 5 years' experience in a quality or technical role within food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, food safety standards, and compliance requirements.
- Proven leadership and team management capability.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across departments.
