Factory FSQA Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced Factory FSQA Manager to take ownership of food safety, quality, and compliance within our manufacturing operation.

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring robust quality management systems are in place, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining the highest standards across all technical processes.

The Role

  • Oversee all aspects of on-site quality assurance, from raw material intake through to finished product dispatch.
  • Lead and manage the quality team, allocating resources and guiding technical initiatives.
  • Ensure the Quality Management System is fully implemented and maintained in line with BRC standards.
  • Maintain strict document control across all policies, procedures, and factory documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement across product specifications, master data, and operational procedures.
  • Lead HACCP verification and validation, ensuring effective CCP monitoring and team competency.
  • Promote a right-first-time culture through auditing and performance monitoring.
  • Conduct risk assessments and approve operational and product-related concessions.
  • Manage environmental monitoring programmes and hygiene validation schedules.
  • Plan and oversee internal audits, ensuring timely close-out of non-conformances.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to uphold food safety and quality standards.
  • Support internal and external audits, traceability exercises, and product recalls where required.
  • Analyse site performance data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective handling of customer complaints and non-conformance investigations.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers (e.g. pest control, calibration, waste).
  • Oversee equipment calibration and ensure records are accurate and up to date.
  • Control the quality budget, including purchase order approvals and tracking.
  • Partner with HR to ensure training and development needs are met across the team.
  • Support new equipment commissioning, hygiene inspections, and production trials.
  • Lead allergen management and promote a strong food safety culture across site.
  • Manage team administration including holidays and attendance systems.
  • Act as a key point of contact for food safety concerns, escalating where necessary.

About You

  • At least 5 years' experience in a quality or technical role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, food safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven leadership and team management capability.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across departments.
