Assistant Head of Year – Maternity Cover

Brook Mead Academy, the newest school in the Mead Educational Trust, offers a unique opportunity to join the founding team and help shape the future of Leicester’s newest secondary school.

Position: Assistant Head of Year – Maternity CoverGrade: 6 (points 11‑15)Hours: 38.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per yearContract: Fixed Term (starting August 2026)

Brook Mead Academy was judged OUTSTANDING by Ofsted in its first inspection in March 2024 and is building staff in a state‑of‑the‑art carbon‑net‑zero campus. The school operates a consistent school‑wide behaviour policy with centralised detentions and support staff. Staff wellbeing, professional growth and a supportive team culture are priority.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils to meet high academic and behavioural standards in partnership with the Lead Behaviour and Safeguarding Officer.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the school’s behaviour policy and safeguarding procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Trust to share best practice and support school improvement.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of professional learning and reflection communities.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure required.
  • Experience in leadership or senior management roles within a secondary school, preferably in a new or developing school setting.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and team‑working skills.
