Site Agent

Havant / Portsmouth

£400 per day self-employed or £60,000 to £75,000 per annum

The Opportunity

We are working in partnership with a leading UK civil engineering contractor delivering a flagship infrastructure scheme in the South.

This is an opportunity to join a large-scale, technically complex project and play a key role in one of the most significant infrastructure schemes currently underway in the UK.

Due to continued growth and increasing workload on site, we are looking to appoint an experienced Site Agent to take ownership of key work packages across the project.

The Role

As Site Agent, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and successful delivery of a defined section of works, ensuring programme, quality, safety, and commercial objectives are achieved.

This is a site-based role on a major long-term infrastructure project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day site operations, including labour, plant, and subcontractors
  • Take ownership of key work packages such as earthworks, drainage, and structures
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, drawings, and specifications
  • Drive and maintain high standards of health and safety across all site activities
  • Develop and manage short-term programmes and lookaheads
  • Monitor progress and implement corrective actions to maintain programme
  • Work closely with commercial teams on cost control, change, and variations under NEC contracts
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, including Sub Agents, Engineers, and Foremen
  • Act as a key link between site delivery teams and senior project leadership

About You

  • Proven experience as a Site Agent on civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in earthworks, highways, or water-related schemes
  • Experience working under NEC contracts
  • Ability to manage programmes, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary site teams effectively
  • SMSTS and CSCS as a minimum
  • HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering preferred
