Associate, Product Specialist – Infrastructure Equity

Business Overview
Our Clients & Strategy team covers Business Development, Investor Relations, External Relations, Sustainable Investment and Brand, Marketing & Communications, including Internal Communications. It is responsible for all communications to investor prospects, existing investors and their asset consultants, as well as a broad range of other stakeholders, including governments and media.

The Role
- Bolster the Product Specialist function in EMEA and globally – main responsibilities include, with respect to the IFM Infrastructure Equity platform:
- Contribute to Business Development and Relationship Management activities with consultants, prospects and investors;
- Establish and enhance marketing and due diligence materials for existing and new infrastructure equity product offerings including GIF and NZIF and other equity strategies;
- Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of product marketing plans and product and asset class related initiatives;
- Capture competitor data, market search, and industry databases.
- Proactively identify and complete tasks, particularly in relation to requests and follow‑ups from external parties, with limited oversight and instruction.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of IFM systems, processes, investment strategies and the institutional funds management space.
Fundraising – Sales (25%)
- Active contribution to delivery of sales targets for each region in relevant asset class;
- Contribute to a high/improving conversion of pipeline opportunities by participating in investor meetings, generating content/analysis to support marketing and investor conversations;
- Support the origination of new pipeline opportunities, as may be required by region;
- Help drive engagement with consultants to increase their support of IFM strategies, evidenced by inclusion in an increasing number of searches and successes;
- Support the development and implementation of a strategy for game‑changers relationships, to progress engagement towards a successful conversion.
Fundraising – Strategy, Pipeline and Product Launches (15%)
- Progress the implementation of the fundraising strategy for EMEA, including development of sales pipeline and business plan objectives for the region;
- Help drive and organise take‑to‑market campaigns for new and existing strategies;
- Work with business development leads and Investment Teams to develop a thoughtful and strategic approach to achieving fundraising targets, including game‑changers;
- Communicate the fundraising strategy effectively with the Investment Teams and convey feedback heard from investors;
- Effectively work with consultants to increase their support of IFM strategies.
Content Creation to Support All Client and Market Engagement (35%)
- Support due diligence processes;
- Develop and maintain accurate marketing and due diligence materials;
- Manage quality, accuracy and timeliness of RFPs in partnership with the RFP Team, including drafting where required;
- Maintain current due diligence materials in the investor data room;
- Contribute to marketing campaigns and thought leadership content;
- Capture key market research and data, including across asset class, competitor and investors.
New Product Development and Industry Expertise (20%)
- Track, monitor and communicate local market developments and market trends for use by regional team and other stakeholders;
- Contribute to the process of restructuring and amending existing funds and feeder structures, representing the client’s needs in the process;
- Contribute to new product development in Infrastructure Equity, including synthesising the needs of clients around the region when designing and structuring new funds and strategies;
- Help vet new business opportunities, including partnerships, SMAs and co‑investments;
- Understand pricing models for investment strategies and help broker pricing conversations.
Teamwork (10%)
- Contribute to regional / global GRG teams during busy periods in a positive and productive manner;
- Build trust and effective working relationships across IFM and demonstrate strong integration between GCS and other IFM teams, particularly the Infrastructure Team;
- Mentor and provide oversight, guidance and direction to more junior resources.
Your Background And Experience
- Typically 4–6 years of relevant experience gained in a similar company or financial institution;
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, finance, law or related field;
- Post‑graduate qualifications in similar fields viewed favourably;
- Strong understanding and knowledge of infrastructure and private markets as an asset class – a key and fundamental requirement;
- Familiarity with infrastructure funds management industry, including key competitors and their product offerings – a plus;
- Market knowledge of institutional investors, asset consultants;
- Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and communications;
- Good knowledge of institutional sales process;
- Strong client relationship management skills;
- Business acumen, financial metrics and key performance drivers;
- Familiarity with key value drivers and risks associated with investments in the asset class across key sub‑sectors (utilities, energy and transportation) and revenue models;
- Proficiency in corporate/project finance (equity, debt financings), asset valuations in private equity;
- Excellent written and verbal communication of technical financial and investment‑related content;
- High numerical skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
- Understanding of media, communications and marketing in a financial environment.
