We are seeking a passionate, strategic, and focused Market Segment Manager to own the global marketing strategy for rare and genetic diseases clinical applications. In this role you will define and complete the commercial strategy for your segment, identify growth opportunities, and promote Oxford Nanopore’s innovative sequencing solutions to clinical researchers working on rare and genetic diseases worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the Human Genetic Segment Director to develop and refine the global segment strategy: analyze market trends, customer needs, and competition to strengthen our position in targeted sequencing and whole‑genome sequencing for the rare and genetic disease clinical audience.
- Deeply collaborate with commercial team leaders to develop a commercial enablement program that drives sales activation and revenue growth.
- Provide application‑focused tools to commercial teams, including internal training decks, battlecards, audience‑specific messaging, detailed personas, and competitive positioning for rare and genetic diseases clinical genetics (targeted sequencing and whole‑genome sequencing).
- Develop customer success stories, case studies, and thought‑leadership content that demonstrate real‑world impact and increase adoption of new techniques and technologies.
- Own and drive go‑to‑market (GTM) strategies for new product and application launches, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and generation of appropriate collateral (benchmarking, battlecards, app notes, etc.).
- Define audience‑specific needs and provide clear messaging, value proposition, and objectives to integrate into the rare and genetic disease clinical campaign.
- Collaborate with the broader Marketing Team (product marketing, content, brand) to guide global priorities while refining assets that resonate with the target audience and have regional impact.
- Collect and synthesize Voice of Customer (VOC), market data, and competitive insights to continuously refine positioning, messaging, and segment‑specific enablement tools.
- Work cross‑functionally with product management, application, R&D, and business development to align product capabilities, provide market‑driven insights to influence product roadmap decisions, and identify new growth opportunities with the complex disease market needs.
Qualifications & Characteristics
- Advanced degree in molecular biology, clinical genetics, medical genetics, or a related field (preferred: MS, Ph.D., or equivalent experience).
- Commercial experience in marketing or clinical sales.
- Deep knowledge of the clinical genetics audience, including goals and pain points within clinical research settings; ability to position Research Use Only (RUO) solutions and differentiate emerging approaches against standard‑of‑care testing.
- Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling messages for technical and senior/executive audiences.
- Proven experience developing and delivering global segment or market strategies.
