We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Data Journey team as a Project Manager who will take on the role as Client Delivery Lead, working with colleagues across the firm to deliver large-scale, data-driven pensions programmes.
What will your role look like?
As a Project Manager within our Data Journey team, you’ll work alongside cross‑functional and multi‑disciplinary teams across the firm, leading a varied portfolio of client projects. These will include GMP equalisation, buy‑in / buy‑out readiness, benefit rectification, wind‑ups and other complex pensions data projects. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that high‑quality, efficient services are delivered to our private sector clients, providing strong leadership, oversight and direction across the full project lifecycle. This is a highly collaborative role, combining strategic planning, stakeholder management and hands‑on project delivery.
Key tasks
- Overall responsibility for the strategic planning and day‑to‑day management of a portfolio of client projects of varying size, complexity and duration
- Working closely with lead consultants, project co‑ordinators and clients to capture and agree strategic requirements, define objectives, scope and key milestones
- Establishing, embedding and maintaining robust project governance and reporting frameworks with clients and key stakeholders
- Overseeing and managing workflow across internal teams to avoid bottlenecks and support efficient delivery
- Proactive stakeholder management, including developing, monitoring and implementing stakeholder management plans
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation aligned to each stage of the project lifecycle
- Undertaking initial risk assessments, implementing mitigating actions and ensuring effective management of risks and issues through to conclusion
- Adapting to and embedding new processes and ways of working to meet evolving client needs
- Monitoring and maintaining project plans to ensure delivery on time, within scope and on budget
- Chairing and facilitating a range of project meetings, from internal core delivery calls through to senior client steering group meetings
- Applying appropriate change control processes to manage and verify changes to scope, schedule and/or budget
- Managing project budgets, monitoring actual spend and taking corrective action where required
- Supporting the wider strategic objectives of the project management team, including input into proposition development
- Leading the Data Journey Project Management team
- Mentoring and coaching Project Co‑ordinators, with potential line management responsibilities
- Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of project management tools, techniques and industry best practice
- Undertaking relevant training to support ongoing professional development
- Adhering to the firm’s information security, professional and quality standards, including peer review processes
- Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of the firm’s products and services
To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:
- A proven track record of managing complex programmes or portfolios of projects, alongside client‑facing consulting experience
- The ability to build strong, trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
- The capability to quickly develop an understanding of pensions data projects; prior pensions knowledge is an advantage but not essential
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence effectively at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with a proactive, solution‑focused approach
- Experience working in fast‑paced environments and remaining calm under pressure
- The ability to prioritise workloads effectively, meet deadlines and delegate appropriately
- Strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach to working within cross‑functional teams
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Resilience and confidence when working with challenging stakeholders
- Strong commercial awareness and business understanding
- Demonstrable experience in a project or programme management role, or similar
- Significant experience managing multiple concurrent and complex projects
- Experience of Agile delivery methodologies (desirable)
- Strong evidence of effective stakeholder management, both internally and externally
- PRINCE2 (or equivalent) qualification and/or experience using PRINCE methodologies
- Confident use of project management tools and relevant software
- Experience within financial services or an employee benefits consultancy (advantageous)
