What you will be doing
Join Arabella Drive House as a Team Leader Support Worker and provide care for people with severe learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that may be seen as challenging; you will support and encourage service users to lead a full and valued life, enabling them to live more independently. You will be a real “people person”, communicating effectively and understanding behaviours, expressions and vocal cues. A good sense of humour, resilience and willingness to help residents with their personal hygiene are important.
You will join an inclusive, supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will use your excellent communication skills and experience as a Team Leader with a background in learning disabilities & autism to support people through their care pathway. The environment can be challenging at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. You will work on a 3‑week rolling rota with a mixture of late and early shifts ranging from 7.5 to 8.5 hours, including weekends.
As a Team Leader you will have:
- NVQ 3 (or working towards it) in Health & Social Care
- Valid UK driving licence (preferred to assist with community visits)
- Strong empathy and a caring, compassionate nature
- Willingness to support residents with personal hygiene
- Excellent people and communication skills, and a good sense of humour
- Ability to deal with challenging behaviours
- Positive and professional approach
- Reliability, flexibility, hard‑working approach and honesty
- Local or within commutable distance

Arabella Drive is based in Roehampton and is part of our learning disability and autism division and provides support for people who may be living with moderate learning disabilities with associated health needs, autism and behaviours which, due to their diagnosis, may be seen as challenging. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will offer support to people as part of their care pathway. Whether it is moving from their community placement or a family home because they require more structured care and support, your aim will be to encourage individuals to lead a full and valued life, enabling them to live more independently through a programme of active community engagement, developing meaningful social networks and robust coping strategies.
