Associate Fire Engineer – London

A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an Associate Fire Engineer to join its London team. This is an opportunity to take a senior role within a growing fire engineering division, working on high‑profile UK projects and shaping innovative fire‑safety strategies across the built environment.

The Role

As an Associate Fire Engineer, you will play a key role in leading fire engineering projects, supporting design teams, and delivering high‑quality technical solutions. You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, and clients to influence building design from concept through to delivery, ensuring safety, compliance, and performance at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver fire engineering projects across a range of sectors.
  • Support and influence building design aspirations, architectural form, and functionality throughout the design process.
  • Provide high‑quality client care and consultancy, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Take responsibility for the financial performance of projects, including invoicing and financial monitoring.
  • Represent the fire engineering discipline at internal and external design team meetings.
  • Build expertise in specifying fixed fire protection systems such as automatic detection and suppression.
  • Carry out and review fire engineering calculations, including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis (CFD experience beneficial but not essential).
  • Mentor and support junior members of the fire engineering team, contributing to their professional development.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Higher education qualification in engineering or a fire‑safety‑related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering fire and life‑safety designs and engineered solutions for UK‑based projects.
  • Strong track record of securing approval for both prescriptive and performance‑based fire engineering solutions.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and confidently.
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Commitment to high professional standards and continuous development.
