Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen at our client for an experienced Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex R&D and product development projects. This role will oversee multidisciplinary programmes spanning electronics, software, mechanical, and process engineering, from early concept through to production release.

The position is based in North London, with some flexibility for hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Delivery

  • Create and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations for new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing transfer
  • Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration across engineering, procurement, production, and quality teams
  • Track project performance, proactively identify risks, and implement mitigation plans
  • Facilitate regular project reviews and provide clear status updates to stakeholders

Engineering & Manufacturing Coordination

  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and smooth transition from prototype to full-scale production
  • Support bill of materials (BOM) management, revision control, and engineering change processes (ECO/ECR)
  • Coordinate validation builds, testing phases, and production ramp-up activities
  • Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality systems

Performance & Delivery Oversight

  • Ensure projects are appropriately resourced across people, materials, and equipment
  • Drive team engagement, clarity of objectives, and balanced workload distribution
  • Produce project documentation, reports, and post-project reviews

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects within sectors such as electronics, aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or similar
  • Strong understanding of PCB assembly, mechanical integration, testing processes, and manufacturing operations
  • Experience using project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs

Desirable

  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) or equivalent training
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or comparable quality standards
