Senior AI & Automation Engineer (Manager Grade)

Birmingham (Hybrid Approach 2–3 days onsite)

£60,000 – £70,000 + Benefits

Method Resourcing have partnered with a leading professional services firm to support the build of a new internal AI & automation capability within their tax technology function.

This team is being created to drive real operational efficiency through AI and automation, not client-facing consulting, but building tools and systems that directly improve how the business runs day-to-day.

You’ll be joining at an early stage of this journey, helping to design, build, and scale AI-powered workflows, internal platforms, and automation solutions that will be adopted quickly across the organisation.

This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership, ideal for someone who enjoys building production-ready solutions and wants to play a key role in shaping how AI is used within a large enterprise environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build AI-powered agents and multi-step automation workflows
  • Develop Python-based services and automation pipelines for production use
  • Integrate AI solutions with internal systems using APIs and event-driven architectures
  • Work across Microsoft technologies (Power Platform, Copilot, Azure AI)
  • Build reusable components such as connectors, tools, and integration layers
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and production-ready
  • Contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and technical direction
  • Support and mentor junior engineers as the team grows
  • Translate business requirements into practical, working technical solutions

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience building automation solutions or internal tools
  • Hands-on experience with Power Platform / Microsoft automation technologies
  • Exposure to AI / Copilot / LLM-driven workflows (beyond basic usage)
  • Experience working with APIs and system integrations
  • Some experience with Python (or a strong willingness to develop further)
  • Ability to operate in a hands-on, delivery-focused environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring or supporting more junior team members
