Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist or Consultant Paediatrician with a Special Interest in Neurodevelopmental Disorders
This newly developed post is part of a substantial investment in the services offered to children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders by Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust (CWPT). The post holder will provide consultant input and leadership in a community setting as part of an all-age neurodevelopmental service.
Responsibilities
The post holder’s main objective is to provide medical input to the neurodevelopment team who assess and treat children and young people of school age with autism spectrum disorders and ADHD. Duties include completing assessments, consulting with other professionals, overseeing multidisciplinary treatment plans and appropriately prescribing medication if required.
In particular, the post holder will be expected to assess complex cases such as:
- a significant risk of self‑harm, harm to others or risk of neglect
- diagnostic uncertainty or complexity
- the interaction of potential illness and personality factors that must be evaluated
The post holder will see approximately 12 new patients per month and 48 follow‑up reviews per month, aiming to reduce historical waiting lists for neurodevelopmental assessment.
Qualifications
- GMC registration and inclusion on the specialist register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Eligible for Approved Clinician Status and Section 12 approval.
