How You’ll Make a Difference

As the Head of Interventions, you will hold a pivotal leadership role within Vinney Green Secure Children’s Home, a complex 24/7 service supporting some of South Gloucestershire’s most vulnerable young people aged 10–18. Shaping the quality, safety and impact of our care, you will maintain an active leadership presence, inspiring and guiding a multi-disciplinary team to deliver personalised, trauma-informed support.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across the care division, ensuring statutory, contractual and legislative compliance within a highly regulated environment.
  • Lead and supervise case managers, with oversight of intervention and resettlement workers, embedding high standards of practice, performance and accountability.
  • Ensure robust plans and processes for audit and quality assurance of care and casework are in place, analysing themes and trends and implementing learning across the workforce.
  • Review, develop and oversee intervention programmes, ensuring they are fit‑for‑purpose, evidence‑based and tailored to the needs of young people.
  • Liaise with regulators and safeguarding partners, contributing to notifications, statutory meetings and multi‑agency planning, including risk management, care planning and deprivation of liberty decisions.
  • Contribute to long-term service planning, business continuity and service development, ensuring high-quality, well-organised and outcome-focused provision.

What We Need From You

  • Hold a recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Have significant relevant management and supervisory experience within children’s social care or similar residential/secure environments, with experience of managing budgets and prioritising resources.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of managing risk related to young people, including offending behaviour, risk-taking and safeguarding concerns, alongside a deep understanding of legislation, best practice and external policy.
  • Exhibit highly developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, motivating and developing staff and engaging effectively with partners, and have previous experience working with complex partnerships, multi-agency systems and statutory safeguarding frameworks.
  • Analyse data, audit findings and performance trends to drive improvement, with strong project management, problem-solving and organisational skills, and the ability to lead innovative and develop specialist solutions.
  • Advantageous to have experience of using quality assurance systems, commissioning frameworks and long-term service planning tools.

  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement of employment for this post.
  • Vinney Green operates a full non-smoking environment. Staff must leave personal belongings in a provided locker on entry into the building and may be required to undertake a further physical fitness check.
