Role description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Leader to join and shape the future of the Pump Centre, a small well-established team that works with almost 300 clients within the Water Industry. The Pump Centre is a Centre of Excellence that offers its members a range of benefits and services for an annual fee, including access to the WIMES standards, training opportunities, and events such as the annual Water Equipment Show.
The position is a Technical Director level role that will lead the Pump Centre as a clearly defined business unit with full accountability for Profit & Loss. The successful candidate will have proven capability in managing a large client base, maintaining service performance, and delivering a strategy for future development and growth of the Pump Centre. Dynamic leadership, coordination, and delivery of events, conferences, and training to member satisfaction are required, along with strong client management skills, a practical understanding of commercial and contract management, and knowledge of the Water sector’s needs.
Role accountabilities
- Proactively manage the business unit to deliver planned performance and grow services to satisfy Arcadis and Pump Centre members.
- Work with multiple clients, taking ownership for delivery of a range of benefits and services to all members.
- Ensure adequate resources for service delivery and identify recruitment needs to support strategy.
- Build a profile with a wide range of water industry clients and maintain Arcadis’ reputation for high‑quality delivery and service.
- Communicate with team members to ensure understanding, engagement with company and client processes, plans, and initiatives.
- Create and manage quality processes to ensure a quality service to members.
- Plan, direct, and control tasks, people, and a large stakeholder community.
- Lead the team and develop staff to meet changing needs.
- Provide business leadership, direction, and pastoral care to team members, fostering a quality, innovative, and entrepreneurial culture.
- Resolve issues and provide guidance and support to other team members.
- Be familiar with and compliant with relevant H&S regulations, promoting a culture of H&S awareness within the team.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by the Client Manager or Arcadis Senior Leadership Team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experienced engineering professional with in‑depth knowledge of the Regulated Water sector.
- Leader with the ability to provide direction, support, and motivation to the team.
- Effective communicator who can work with people from other organisations and backgrounds, aligning their needs with Pump Centre services.
- Working knowledge of project and program management.
- Working knowledge of contract and commercial management.
- Excellent communicator who promotes technical excellence and client service.
- Good people‑management skills, ensuring the best talent delivers services effectively and efficiently.
