Senior Technical Consultant – Fortinet vacancy in Hybrid (80% Remote 20% South East) (114lw)
Region: London and South East, Remote/Home working
We’re working with a high-performing, mid-sized network and cybersecurity consultancy delivering complex, high-value projects across enterprise and regulated environments. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Technical Consultant with deep expertise in Fortinet technologies, alongside working knowledge of Palo Alto Networks. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you will lead from the front – owning design, delivery, and customer engagement end-to-end. It is not a step-up role; you’ll be expected to hit the ground running as a senior consultant.
You’ll work closely with customers from initial engagement through to implementation, acting as a trusted technical advisor on complex network and security projects.
Typical responsibilities
- Leading technical workshops and design sessions
- Translating business and technical requirements into HLDs and LLDs
- Delivering end-to-end Fortinet-based solutions
- Supporting proof of concepts (PoCs) and solution validation
- Acting as the technical lead on customer engagements
- Producing high-quality documentation (designs, migration plans, handover docs)
- Providing hands‑on implementation and troubleshooting
Core Technical Skills
- Strong, hands‑on experience across the Fortinet ecosystem: FortiGate, FortiSwitch, management & analytics tools
- Experience with Palo Alto Technologies and secure network design
- Proven delivery across the full lifecycle – Design → Implementation → Troubleshooting
- Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls
- Certifications such as NSE7 / PCNSE are not mandatory – however, you should be operating at an equivalent level
Consulting Experience (Essential)
- Experience working directly with external customers
- Ability to lead workshops, challenge and guide clients, and communicate complex solutions
- Comfortable operating in high-expectation environments (enterprise, regulated sectors)
Desired Attributes
- Calm, credible, and professional presence with customers
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to build trust quickly and act as a “safe pair of hands”
- Confident enough to challenge, but pragmatic in approach
We’re looking for someone who can combine technical depth with strong presence. If you’re transitioning from the Armed Forces, this role could be a strong fit if you have experience in network engineering, CIS, or cyber roles.
You’ll likely succeed if you:
- Have moved into (or are ready for) a customer-facing / consulting role
- Can demonstrate ownership of design and delivery, not just support
- Security clearance (SC/DV) is a strong advantage but not essential.
Interested? Please send a copy of your CV with a note outlining why this would be the ideal opportunity for you to liz@ex-mil.co.uk
