Application Development Manager

The Application Development Manager is responsible for sales support activities in the UK and Ireland, preferably based in Great Britain. The role provides key technical input and advice to both industrial and municipal sales teams, covering application development, coaching, training, and market, regulatory and competitor intelligence. It is field-based and requires substantial contact with customers, the UK sales team, and other Hach associates.

Typical Areas of Responsibility

  • Work with the sales teams to identify product and process optimisation sales opportunities and advise on customer proposals.
  • Identify areas for application development for Hach products and services with customers and sales teams.
  • Provide technical training, particularly to sales account managers and other associates.
  • Act as a technical excellence champion for both customers and within Hach.
  • Understand, monitor and communicate market, regulatory and competitor positioning and changes in the UK & Ireland industrial and municipal markets.
  • Collaborate with product managers to facilitate effective rollout of new products in UK & Ireland markets.
  • Build client relationships internally and externally to achieve success.
  • Assist process and systems specialists and conduct site surveys for project solutions.

Requirements

  • Industrial process knowledge, particularly in wastewater treatment and/or process water, is desirable.
  • Familiarity with water monitoring equipment is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel regularly (2‑3 days per week with some overnight stays) to meet customer and sales team requirements.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience, typically in a water quality instrumentation provider, water utility, industrial company, consultant or contractor organisation.
  • Knowledge of SCADA/PLC or process control systems is an advantage.
