An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, compassionate and enthusiastic qualified Band 5 Staff Nurse (Registered Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurses) to work within the Neuro psychiatry inpatient service on Ward 2, Walkergate Park.

The regional service supports individuals who have neurological disorders for example: Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, MS, TBI and require specialist neuro psychiatry input. Presenting with a range of physical, cognitive, communication and emotional problems as well as challenging behaviours. We aim to provide a secure, and low stimulus environment that is suitable for people who require a full assessment of their needs including nursing, medical, psychology, OT, physio, SALT and dietetics.

Successful applicants must have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe patient care. Applicants should have an interest in working within Neurological care in a challenging but rewarding environment.

You will work in a highly supportive team and will be encouraged to access training opportunities to further develop your knowledge and skills.

Main duties of the job

They act as a Primary/Named Nurse within a multi-disciplinary team, developing collaborative, and needs based care plans, through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

They provide excellent professional, skilled and effective person centred, evidence based nursing care.

They are actively involved in the health and wellbeing of staff and service users.

They are visible and accessible to patients, families and carers working together to ensure efficient, effective and caring services.

They contribute to achieving all performance indicators, essential standards and quality outcomes

They contribute to the education and development of the workforce and students.

They contribute to staff appraisals and support personal development plans.

They safely administer medication following Trust policies and practice guidelines.

They will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity,
