About the role

We are looking for a senior, strategic, commissioning and public health leader to serve as Programme Manager for Substance Misuse. The role is permanent and based in Brighton & Hove. You will help drive transformation across prevention, treatment, recovery, harm reduction and partnership working, ensuring services remain high‑quality, inclusive and responsive to the needs of our residents.

The role supports the wider determinants of health, diversity and trauma‑informed, preventative approaches. You will be responsible for strategic leadership within the Public Health team and for fostering partnership working across a diverse and complex environment. We welcome applicants who are passionate about improving outcomes for people affected by drug and alcohol harm and who bring experience in commissioning and strategic leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic commissioning for substance misuse services.
  • Drive transformation in prevention, treatment, recovery, harm reduction and partnership working.
  • Ensure services are high‑quality, inclusive and responsive to residents’ needs.
  • Support the Public Health team to weave in wider determinants of health and trauma‑informed approaches.

Qualifications

  • Experience in commissioning and strategic leadership.
  • Proven ability to work in diverse, dynamic and complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of drug and alcohol harm outcomes.
