Overview
The purpose of the FRC is to serve the public interest and support UK economic growth by upholding high standards of corporate governance, corporate reporting, audit and actuarial work. We are the UK Competent Authority for audit, set the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes as well as UK standards for accounting, auditing and actuarial work. The Strategic Planning & Delivery team plays a central role in supporting the FRC’s business planning in addition to providing an enterprise PMO function providing project, programme and portfolio management services across the business. The Projects Analyst
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Budgeting
- Support the effective delivery of the annual Plan & Budget by providing project support and coordination to the Strategic Delivery Manager; source and validate cross-FRC inputs; ensure clarity, consistency and alignment to strategic objectives; work with divisional leads to achieve high quality divisional business plans.
- Assist in preparing analysis, briefing material and options for audiences including the Head of SPD, Director of Finance, Planning & Delivery, COO, CEO and senior governance groups.
- Brief the Head of SPD and other decision-makers directly.
- Organise meetings, book rooms and, from time to time, arrange transport.
PMO
- Support the effective organisation and operation of the Portfolio Review Board (PRB) by compiling papers, taking minutes, and providing timely and clear communication with project leads; coordinate briefing for the PRB Chair.
- Coordinate engaging communications with the FRC’s community of around 60 project managers to enable learning and knowledge-sharing across teams.
- Prepare portfolio management information (reports, data and dashboards) to agreed standards.
- Maintain and develop project management tools, templates and guidance and help monitor their application by project teams.
- Take day-to-day responsibility for discrete improvement work packages or small projects, working under own initiative to increase PMO maturity in a specific area; this may involve mapping and documenting processes.
- Measure benefits of PMO activities and collect data to inform changes or new developments.
- Support and contribute to events and training sessions, preparing or updating materials.
- Contribute as required to the smooth running of SPD and, where relevant, the wider Finance, Planning & Operations team.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience of project, programme or portfolio management; strong analytical skills including synthesising inputs across multiple teams; ability to build deeper technical knowledge of processes and procedures; ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders; excellent organisational skills including event management and facilitation; ability to communicate ideas confidently and suggest process improvements; ability to work independently to identify issues and generate solutions; high standard of written communication to produce minutes, reports and other correspondence; high proficiency in IT systems (Excel, MS SharePoint, and Microsoft Office); managing progress trackers; strong attention to detail; commitment, drive and enthusiasm to support others in delivery; being a team player committed to FRC values; qualification(s) in Project Management (or Programme/PMO); experience with board-based planning tools (e.g., MS Teams Planner); experience of working with or within a regulator; data visualisation, business analysis or process design.

The role is based in our central Birmingham office. The post holder should be able to work flexibly to support the team’s activities and also provide cover within the FRC as necessary. The FRC operates a hybrid working arrangement with its workforce, with an expectation that 40% of a person’s working time will be located at one of our offices per week, with precise arrangements to be agreed between the employee and the line manager.
