The Home Situated just a 15 minute drive from Belfast and set in the heart of an already established residential community, Glenabbey Manor is a friendly, safe and welcoming residential and dementia care home, with provision for up to 76 residents. Our residents are encouraged to enjoy as much of an independent lifestyle as possible, with the assurance of a compassionate, kind and professional care team, always on hand to support individuals’ daily care needs and wishes. The modern accommodation at Glenabbey Manor is spacious, comfortable and beautifully designed, with easy accessibility enabling residents to move around safely. Our private bedrooms spaces are fully furnished, with a flat screen TV and en-suite shower room as standard. Residents may bring their own home accessories and furniture, to personalise their space and make it their home. About the role: The Deputy Manager is part of the Home Management team, the heart and soul of our Homes, embodying leadership, compassion and dedication to the wellbeing of residents and team members alike. The Deputy Manager plays a key support role in creating a nurturing and supportive environment where residents feel safe, valued and respected, and where staff are empowered to deliver high-quality care with professionalism and clinical excellence. The Deputy Manager works closely with the Home Manager to oversee every aspect of the Homes operation, from ensuring regulatory compliance and financial sustainability to fostering a culture of high care standards and continuous improvement. The Deputy Manager leads by example, inspiring their team to uphold the highest standards of care while also providing support and guidance. The Deputy Manager supports the team in building meaningful connections with residents based on trust, rapport and create a sense of community and belonging within the Home. About The Role Responsabilities Support the Home Manager with day-to-day operations, compliance, budgeting, and high-quality clinical care Lead, supervise, and develop staff, including recruitment, training, performance, and retention Deliver and oversee person-centred care in line with care plans and regulatory standards Monitor care quality, drive improvements, and implement best practices Act as a role model, promoting professionalism, compassion, and excellence Manage and support the team through supervision, development, and regular meetings Handle complaints promptly and professionally, escalating when needed Work with HR and Operations to promote staff wellbeing, safety, and effective practices Ensure policies, procedures, and risk assessments are up to date and followed Oversee staff inductions and mandatory training completion Support service development and maintain strong stakeholder relationships Help manage occupancy levels and identify growth opportunities Ensure accurate, secure record-keeping and data management Stay up to date with best practice and developments in care Participate in the on-call rota, including evenings and weekends Undertake additional duties as required Benefits of working with Kathryn Homes: Accrued Paid Holiday Pension Scheme Comprehensive induction and ongoing training Free Access NI Check and uniform Funding and support towards obtaining NVQ Level 1 and 2 in Health and Social Care Opportunities to progress your career within the company Free, on-site parking Employee of the Month awards All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of adults. Required Criteria The Right to Work in the UK Hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care 2 years in Team Leader or Line Management role Work to agreed short and medium-term objectives where professional judgement and/or operational decisions will have a gradual but measurable impact at local level Solve problems based on acquired systematic knowledge and experience, usually requiring the adaption of new and existing systems and processes in response to operational needs Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as key features of the role will usually involve activities such as coaching, counselling with residents, their families, and local external partners Be familiar with changing current issues and ensure these are applied and implemented within the care home setting Be competent using a range of IT programmes and packages Skills Needed About The Company We are passionate about providing the highest standards of care in safe, positive and flexible environments, which enable each person who uses our services to achieve their potential.
