Are you a Health & Safety professional looking to make a genuine impact on a major civil engineering project? This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading contractor delivering high-profile infrastructure works in a unique island location.

The Opportunity

You’ll play a key role in driving safety, compliance, and best practice on a significant project currently in its site set-up phase, with main works commencing soon. The project will involve multiple subcontractors on site.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee and develop junior Health & Safety Officers, bringing strong guidance and construction expertise—particularly from a civil engineering background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor on-site Health & Safety team members
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust H&S systems and procedures
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice
  • Deliver safety briefings, training, and toolbox talks
  • Work closely with project and site teams to embed a strong safety culture

About You

  • Proven experience in Health & Safety within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and guide junior staff
  • Experience working with civil engineering contractors is desirable
  • NEBOSH qualification
  • Solid understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation
  • Confident communicator with a proactive, hands-on approach
